Lobbying Illinois Teachers Guide

The 104 page teacher’s guide for the book, Lobbying Illinois: How You Can Make a Difference in Public Policy, , is intended to assist classroom teachers at the Illinois middle and secondary level with introducing their students to the role lobbying takes in the state legislative process. The materials, worksheets, activities, scoring rubrics, and extension activities are included with each lesson. The vocabulary is found at the end of the lesson and the appendix holds annotated Internet sites to build further knowledge about the process of lobbying. It is expected that each chapter should take two to four class periods or two block periods with extended activities outside the classroom. Appendices on Illinois State Learning Standards, Assessment Rubrics to use with the Lessons, and an Internet Guide to sites that students and teachers can use to supplement the lesson materials and research projects included with the guide.
